Where Midwifery is taught in Czechia
Porodní asistence is a three-year bachelor’s program. It prepares students for the profession of midwife and is strongly practice-based: students need not only biology and the basics of medicine, but also communication with patients, work in a clinical environment, and Czech at a level sufficient for practice.

- University of Ostrava: Faculty of Medicine OU.
- University of West Bohemia in Plzeň: Faculty of Health Care Studies.

- UJEP in Ústí nad Labem, VŠPJ in Jihlava, College of Health Care in Prague: midwifery programs are also offered by these schools.
What is important for admission
This field is often chosen by students who want a medical profession with a shorter entry path than the six-year Medicine program. But "shorter" does not mean "easier": because of the practical training and direct contact with patients, Czech, motivation, and an understanding of the profession are especially important.
