Where a C1 certificate is required, what the Second and Third Faculty interviews assess, and how to prepare medical Czech for 2027/2028.

At a glance
Czech-language requirements depend on the faculty and programme. At the First Faculty, accepted applicants without a Czech or Slovak maturita present C1 at enrolment. Oral work in Czech is also important at the Second and Third Faculties. A preparation course does not itself replace a certificate required by a faculty.
2027/2028
| Faculty | What is documented | What to check before booking an exam |
|---|
| 1. LF UK | Accepted applicants without a Czech/Slovak maturita present C1 at enrolment. | The faculty accepts certificates from organizations authorized to hold state language exams in Czechia; check the provider. |
|---|
| 2. LF UK | Oral round: two topics, argumentation and defence of your own position. | Confirm separate language-document rules with the faculty. An interview does not automatically imply a certificate exemption. |
|---|
| 3. LF UK | An unfamiliar text without notes, ethical discussion and motivation. | The ethics task requires arguments for and against without personal opinion. Check language documents separately. |

Certificates, language and interviews are separate tasks
A certificate meets a documentary requirement. Before paying for an official exam, check the level, issuing organization, acceptable certificate date and submission deadline.
Czech also matters in subject tests: understanding a question, a negative statement and a calculation prompt. Learn terminology alongside biology, chemistry and physics.
In an interview you need to listen, structure an answer and respond to follow-up questions. The Second Faculty asks you to defend a position; the Third Faculty’s ethics task excludes your personal conclusion.
An independent speaking exercise
Choose a short popular science text in Czech. After reading it, explain its question, conclusion and two supporting facts aloud. Record your answer and identify where the links between ideas become unclear. For the Third Faculty, try 15 minutes of reading without notes followed by a presentation. This is a NaMED learning exercise, not an official examination text.
What the NaMED course includes
The C1 and interview course runs for 12 weeks: 12 weekly group sessions, homework with feedback and a final practice interview. The price is €999. Discuss your current level and target programme before choosing. The official certificate and faculty requirements are separate.

Frequently asked questions
Is C1 required by every medical faculty?
One rule cannot be applied to all faculties. This guide covers the three Prague faculties in detail; check the current individual conditions for Plzeň, Hradec Králové, Brno, Olomouc and Ostrava.
Can I prepare the same oral answer for the Second and Third Faculties?
No. Their structure and instructions about personal opinion differ. Practise the requirements of your chosen faculty.
Does the course guarantee a certificate or admission?
No. NaMED prepares language and oral skills, the relevant examination provider issues a certificate, and the faculty decides admission.
Your next preparation step
Start with the subject test and compare your result with your chosen faculty’s format. Discuss a one-year or six-month course for subjects, or the separate C1 programme for Czech and interview preparation.
